“Everyday, we sweat. No matter what energy we expend, no matter how hot or how cool the day, we sweat.

But, of course, the more we exercise, the more we sweat. And, the hotter it is, the more we sweat. So, put together the high amount of energy it takes to hike a mountainous trail and make that a hot day for the hike, and you’ve got a formula for a lot of sweating. Sweating means fluid and electrolyte loss.

Sweating is normal and it’s healthy. But, you’ve got to make some compensations.

Sweating depletes electrolytes, including such components as sodium, potassium, bicarbonate and calcium (Medline Plus), from your body, and these must be replaced.” Read more.
